Heterotrophic Aerobic Bacteria
HAB-BART™

The HAB-BART is used to determine if bacteria are present and if the dominant bacteria are aerobic or anaerobic.

When total aerobic bacteria are dominant and active, the blue dye in the BART bleaches from the bottom up. When total anaerobic bacteria are dominant and active, the blue dye in the BART bleaches down from the top.

The test measures the total bacteria in the sample. The bacteria respires on the nutrients provided by the dehydrated culture medium. The dye, Methylene blue, acts as an alternative to oxygen for microbial respiration. When the microbes respire, the Methylene blue becomes colorless. The faster the dye bleaches, the greater the level of respiration and the larger the total bacteria population.

The HAB-BART determines whether aerobic or anaerobic bacteria are present and what kind of MIC-causing bacteria, if any, exist in your system.
